Rajasthan Trip – Jaipur Day 2…
…This post is part of the Rajasthan Trip series of posts where I record memories and experiences from the trip…
By afternoon, after consulting few doctors we finally dumped Piyush at a Hospital where he had to undergo few tests… We then left to explore more of Jaipur… Hired an Auto-Rickshaw from outside of the hospital to City Palace… But we had to halt in between seeing this building…
Albert Hall now hosts a Museum… The architecture of the building is also worth seeing and so are the few artifacts on display there… This was the best museum to see in the whole trip… Few worth mentioning items were the huge Royal Shields, a mini-canon that can be fired from a Camel, Old odd currency note die, jewellery, a Royal wash basin, etc. It was really worth the visit and Pravin gave few good snaps…
We took a Cycle Rickshaw from outside to City Palace… Believe me, City Palace is not worth a visit baring these two silver objects… Gangajali- Larget Silver object, 5’3″, 345 Kgs, 4091 lts… (as recorded in Guniness Book of World Records…)… The then king carried two of these filled with water from river Ganga on his voyages to UK…
We met Nimesh and Mayur here… So we were now back to the original group that had started on the trip…
It was almost late afternoon by the time we finished with City Palace…. Ahead from there we spent sometime shopping at the Government recognized shop at a walkable distance from City Palace… Next task was to eat something, as we had not had our lunch in the afternoon and it was almost evening… Found a Veg Hotel offering Jain food, and Pravin and I made the most of it… With the time showing almost 6:00 it was time to head back to the room… A quick bath and visit to Pandit Todarmal Smarak Trust… If I had not taken up engineering I would have ended up studying here… As I look back on life, I think I would have been better coming here…
After returninig from Smarak, it was packing up and waiting for the train to catch at 11:30 at night… Train was almost on time and we slept on dreaming about… … … obviously Sand and Camels!!!
